2019 Teacher of the Year

For years Mrs. Mayo has made meaningful connections and a lasting impact on the lives of the most difficult to reach students in the school. She truly cares about every student. She takes the time to work with any student for tutoring, regardless of if they’re in her class or not. She develops amazing relationships works with students and pushes them to succeed

She is also deeply involved in the basic functioning of the school through daily sub duty, AdvancED, being part of our security team, and working with graduation and senior actvities. Mrs. Mayo is more than willing to do whatever is needed to make HHS a better place for students and faculty. She will do favors for other teachers and staff members...and always with a smile.

Mrs. Mayo has been a teacher for 15 years, 7 of which have been at HHS. She taught math for 13 years and credit recovery for the past 2 years.   

Mrs. Mayo has been married for almost 11 years, to a '98 HHS grad, Clayton Mayo. They have three children: Abby (12, step-daughter, 7th grade - Herschel Jones MS in Paulding Co.), Matthew (8, 3rd grade LES), and Bradley (7, 2nd grade LES). Their two black labs, Diesel (11) and Shelby (9), complete the family.
