Mrs. Morton is honored to serve the stakeholders of the Heritage High School community and provide ongoing support for the students, faculty, and staff. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering Technology from DeVry University and a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction from LaGrange College.

Mrs. Morton began her educational journey in DeKalb County, Georgia. She has had the opportunity to teach at every level of the high school mathematics curriculum, including Advanced Placement (AP) courses. During this time, she has served as a Teacher Leader, Teacher Support Specialist, Mathematics Department Chair, and most recently as an Administrator Assistant, which afforded her the opportunity to work with teachers in the classroom on instructional best practices and multi-tiered systems of support for student achievement.

Mrs. Morton is married to her wonderful husband; Charles Morton and they share two loving daughters: Caitlyn and Courtlyn. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, finding new places to eat, crafting, and shopping.

Mrs. Morton is excited to work with the faculty, students, and all stakeholders in the Heritage High School community as we continue to S.E.T. the Stage in Rockdale County.



Mrs. Overstreet

Mrs. Overstreet is a native of Pompano Beach, Florida. She attended Florida State University where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Mathematics Education.  After graduation, Mrs. Overstreet moved to the Atlanta area and began her teaching career in the Fulton County School district (North Springs High School & Westlake High School). She joined the Rockdale County School district in 2010 as a math teacher at Salem High School.  Mrs. Overstreet, entering her 22nd year in education, has served as a high school math teacher, Mathematics Department Chair, Secondary Academic Mathematics Coach, and now Assistant Principal. She earned her Master of Education degree in Secondary Mathematics Education and her Specialist’s degree in Educational Leadership from Mercer University.

Mrs. Overstreet is excited to begin her 9th year at Heritage. Her administrative duties include serving as the 9th Grade Academy administrator, 9th Grade Discipline, and supervising the Mathematics Department.  Mrs. Overstreet is married to Jimmy, a fellow educator. They have two children, Madison and Landon. She enjoys reading, traveling, and volunteering.

Mrs. Williams is originally from Jamaica W.I. and this is where she started her career as a high school teacher in 1997. She migrated to the United States in 2004. She attended SUNY Empire State University in New York where she received her Bachelor of Science in Cultural Studies with a concentration in Literature. She moved from New York to Conyers Georgia in 2006, and in 2007, she started teaching High School English Language Arts in the Dougherty County Public School System. During her tenure in this school district, she has taught at all high school grade bands and have taught Honors, Gifted and AP English Literature and Composition courses. Mrs. Williams has held several leadership roles including ELA Department Chair and 12th Grade Level Chair. Within the next twelve years Mrs. Williams completed a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from North Central University and a Specialist Degree in English from Columbus State University.  Mrs. Williams also has experience in higher education where she served as an Adjunct English Professor at Albany Technical College in Albany Georgia from 2013 – 2015. Mrs. Williams joined the Rockdale County Public School family in 2021 as an English teacher at Heritage High School and has held positions such as ELA Department Chair and Co-Lead Mentor. 

Mrs. Williams is honored to begin her 16th year in education in the Georgia Public School System, and she looks forward to serving as an administrator at Heritage High School where she will oversee discipline for students last name N-Z, PBIS and Partners in Education.
Mrs. Williams recently celebrated 20 years of marriage to Kaven and has two children Kaven Jr and Kyle. She enjoys reading, listening to music, drawing and traveling.

Dr. Marcus Washington is a native of South Carolina. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in History at Emory University, Master of Teaching in Secondary Education and Educational Specialist Degrees in Educational Leadership at Mercer University, and an Educational Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Liberty University.   

Dr. Washington taught social studies in the Dekalb County School District and in 2019 joined Heritage High School as an Assistant Principal. He supports students in grades 10-12, supervises the Social Studies & CTAE Departments, and coordinates Advanced Placement (AP).

Dr. Washington is married to Aprille, a fellow educator. They have twin daughters and a dog. He enjoys playing tennis, reading thriller novels, and traveling to learn about cultural traditions and cuisines.
