Dr. Richards

Greetings Patriots,

Welcome to Heritage High School where we S.E.T. the Stage for Excellence and continue to Raise the Bar everyday! It is an honor to lead Heritage High School for the 2023-24 school year. As I come upon my 23rd year in education, I am thrilled to be a part of such a diverse community of learners.

I am originally a native of Greenville, South Carolina. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English and a Masters of Teaching in Secondary Education from the University of South Carolina. I completed my leadership certification from the University of Georgia and my Specialist and Doctorate degree in Leadership and Administration from Liberty University.

My teaching career began in Anderson School District One where I taught at Wren High School before moving to Georgia. I joined Martin Luther King, Jr. High School in DeKalb County as a teacher, English department chair and senior sponsor, before joining Union Grove High School as an assistant principal.

I have resided in Rockdale County for over fifteen years with my husband, Marc, and our two children, Hunter and Hailey.

High School is an exciting time, and while we focus on academics there is also the opportunity to participate in a full range of athletics, fine arts, clubs, and organizations to enrich the school experience. At Heritage, I want to ensure every student is well prepared and graduates college and career ready. My faculty and staff are dedicated to ensuring success for every student.

As we move through the school year, I look forward to working with all students. I invite parents to become an active part of the Patriot community through volunteering, attending school events and encouraging students to pursue excellence on a daily basis.

S.E.T the Stage,

Dr. LaTonya K. Richards
